I DO – Gaining by Giving Up
To realize this project Jakob and Manila set up an office at Kunsthalle Osnabrück from December 7th through 13th 2015. People interested in participating could pick up a brochure there. For those who were not able to attend the notebook can be downloaded on jakobundmanila.de. It is available in German and English. The booklet has the form of a diary which lists the kinds of restrictions Jakob and Manila invite you to try out. One can describe experiences, changes or insights one had or observed during the process of self-imposed restriction. It goes without saying that you may use as well media of documentation that go beyond a simple notebook: actually we are very eager to learn from your attempts to share your experience in restraints turned into versatility with others by documenting it!
During the week January 19th and 22nd 2016 the participants of “I do” were invited to share their experience at Kunsthalle Osnabrück.
